Kepulauan Bangka Belitung – Under the title “In-country on Course Integrating ICT in Mathematics Education for Senior High School Mathematics Teachers in collaboration between SEAQiM and MGMP Matematika SMA Kabupaten Bangka dan Cabang Dinas Wilayah II Dinas Pendidikan Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung”, the course has been conducted to provide teachers with practical tools and strategies to effectively integrate ICT resources into their mathematics teaching and learning. The course venue is Rumah Makan Pangeran, Sungailiat, Kab Bangka, Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung, scheduled from 26 February to 1 March 2024.
Developed in collaboration with SEAQiM experts, the course promises to reshape traditional teaching paradigms and empower educators with innovative tools and strategies, enrich the learning experience, and equip students with essential skills for the future. From interactive software applications to online simulations and virtual manipulatives, the course offers diverse resources to enhance conceptual understanding and foster mathematical proficiency.
Dr Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, Mr Bungkus Dias, Mr Gusnandar Yoga, and Ms Russasmita, prominent facilitators from SEAQiM, highlighted the transformative potential of ICT integration. Thirty-three (33) senior high school mathematics teachers from Kepulauan Bangka Belitung seek to introduce basic mathematical concepts through interactive games to high school instructors exploring advanced mathematical modelling using sophisticated software tools; the course offers practical insights and strategies for effective ICT integration.
Mrs. Erma Suryani, M.Pd, Chair of the Bangka Regency High School Mathematics MGMP, expressed her gratitude for collaborating with SEAQiM, Cabdin II, and MGMP to realize the event. In her opening remark, she also mentioned that 32 senior high schools were collaborating. Cabdin Region II, Mr. Heru, S.SI, M.Pd, Head of the High School Division, welcomes all SEAQiM team members with high appreciation. “Don’t just do it for yourself but also for the impact; the learning process must be quality and result with qualified teachers. We promise to create students ready to face the future and a golden Indonesia 2045 with smart classes to support teaching in Bangka Belitung”, he said in his opening remark.
The course was officially opened by the Head of High School of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Education Office, Mr Dani Permana, S.H, M.H. “This activity is not covered by the APBD funds, but we hope that the competence of teachers will be improved, as well as improve ethics in carrying out their duties. I hope that this training can improve the numeracy skills of Bangka Belitung students as well”, Mr Dani added.
Incorporating technology into mathematics education isn’t just about embracing innovation; it’s about creating dynamic learning environments where students can explore, experiment, and collaborate in previously unimaginable ways. Dr Wulan adds that SEAQiM continues to support GTK activities through SEAMEO priority areas and flagship programs, supporting teachers for mathematics content, conveying that they must remain moved and moving. To achieve these goals, SEAQiM needs support from all parties, especially the education department, BBGP, BGP, and BPMP, to improve the quality of education in Indonesia.
