SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) participated in the SEAMEO Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Strategy Implementation Review Workshop held at Skyview Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. SEAQiM was represented by Mr. Agus Limbang Wardani and Ms. Lely Dian Puspita, joining approximately sixty MEL focal points and officers from SEAMEO Centres and the SEAMEO Secretariat.<\/p>\n
The workshop was officially opened by Dr. Datuk Habibah Abdul Rahim, Director of the SEAMEO Secretariat. In her opening remarks, she acknowledged the strong commitment of MEL officers in coordinating data and advancing MEL processes across centres. She also highlighted that MEL data collected will be presented during the upcoming SEAMEO High Officials Meeting (HOM) through a gallery walk exhibition. Dr. Habibah additionally expressed appreciation to the ASEAN\u2013UK Supporting the Advancement of Girls\u2019 Education (SAGE) Programme for its continuous support and funding.<\/p>\n

Resource persons included Mr. Bart Van Halteren, Regional Director Asia (MDF Asia); Mr. Emiljohn Sentillas, Policy and Planning Specialist at the SEAMEO Secretariat; Ms. Indira; and Ms. Veena Cute-ngarmpring from GIZ. Throughout the two-day workshop, participants engaged in reflection and knowledge-sharing sessions, featuring experience presentations from SEAMEO SEARCA, SEAMEO INNOTECH, and SEAMEO SEAMOLEC\u2014three centres that have progressed significantly in piloting and institutionalising MEL implementation. Their insights provided practical recommendations for strengthening evidence-based planning and reporting across SEAMEO.<\/p>\n
As part of the broader strategic initiative supported by the ASEAN\u2013UK SAGE Programme, the discussions focused on enhancing the SEAMEO-wide MEL Strategy through refinement of the SEAMEO Results Framework, clarity of indicators and definitions, and capacity-building for qualitative data collection and analysis. The final session also emphasised the integration of gender-responsive perspectives into programme planning, monitoring, and evaluation to reinforce the implementation of the SEAMEO Gender Strategy and ensure equitable educational development.<\/p>\n
These strengthened approaches will contribute to improved data collection processes for FY 2025\/2026 and support more coherent, evidence-based, and gender-responsive programme implementation across SEAMEO Centres.<\/p>\n
SEAQiM\u2019s participation in this workshop reaffirms the Centre\u2019s commitment to advancing organisational learning and evidence-based programme management. The knowledge gained will support the enhancement of SEAQiM\u2019s MEL practices, ensuring that the Centre\u2019s programme outcomes are well-documented, measurable, and aligned with the SEAMEO regional development agenda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
