Zoom Meeting, 17 October 2025 – In a significant stride toward enhancing global collaboration in mathematics education, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) and International Transnational Education Association \u2013 International Cultural Communication Center Malaysia (ITEA – ICCCM), an organization dedicated to promoting and fostering collaboration among institutions and countries, officially signed a Cooperation Agreement on 17 October 2025. The ceremony, held virtually through Zoom, signalled a mutual commitment to promoting innovative and sustainable approaches to mathematics teaching and learning on an international scale.<\/p>\n
The event brought together representatives from ICCCM, Ms. Loo Hui Ann (Managing Director), Mr. Ivan Chabibilah (Business Development Executive), Ms. Zhen Hui (International Department Administration Staff), Ms. Cyntia Wu, Indonesia Regional Manager, Mr. Godwin Silver, Europe and Africa Regional Manager, and Mr. Nasri, Central Asia Regional Manager. Both institutions underscore a shared vision of expanding opportunities for professional collaboration in advancing education in Southeast Asia and beyond.<\/p>\n
Dr Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, Director of SEAQiM, presented an overview of the Centre\u2019s vision, mission, and key initiatives, emphasizing SEAQiM\u2019s role as a regional centre for excellence in mathematics education under the SEAMEO and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education of the Republic of Indonesia. She highlighted SEAQiM\u2019s core and flagship programs, including the Numeracy Program and Kampung STEM, both of which have been instrumental in developing contextual learning environments and promoting numeracy literacy within local communities.<\/p>\n
Dr. Wulan underscored SEAQiM\u2019s ongoing efforts to develop and implement Mathematics Teaching and Learning Models that address emerging challenges in education, particularly in strengthening learners\u2019 critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. She elaborated on SEAQiM\u2019s future programs, notably the International Seminar on Mathematics in Artifact in November 2025 and the International Symposium on Mathematics Education and Innovation (ISMEI) scheduled for 2026. Dr. Wulan expressed SEAQiM\u2019s openness to collaboration in disseminating and publishing these events globally, particularly beyond Asia and invited ICCCM\u2019s participation and support.<\/p>\n
\u201cSEAQiM is dedicated to creating platforms that bridge mathematics with everyday life, culture, and innovation. Through partnerships such as this, we can expand our impact, share our expertise, and bring together educators from diverse backgrounds to shape the future of mathematics education,\u201d Dr. Wulan stated.<\/p>\n
Representing ICCCM, Mr. Godwin Silver, Europe and Africa Regional Manager, commended SEAQiM\u2019s initiatives and reaffirmed ICCCM\u2019s enthusiasm for the partnership. He noted that ICCCM is eager to engage in SEAQiM\u2019s upcoming international programs and explore avenues for contribution.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are happy to join the forthcoming International Seminar on Math in Artifact as a co-organizer or co-host. ICCCM is open to supporting this initiative by inviting partners and experts from outside Asia to ensure it achieves a truly global reach,\u201d said Ms. Ann.<\/p>\n
The cooperation agreement between SEAQiM and ICCCM was then signed, marking the beginning of a partnership aimed at co-developing and implementing impactful educational programs, promoting capacity building among teachers, and encouraging mathematics innovation.
