{"id":6371,"date":"2024-06-06T11:26:26","date_gmt":"2024-06-06T04:26:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.qitepinmath.org\/en\/?p=6371"},"modified":"2024-06-19T11:30:56","modified_gmt":"2024-06-19T04:30:56","slug":"math-and-arts-training-brings-26-vocational-teachers-in-yogyakarta-to-show-their-love-for-math","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.qitepinmath.org\/en\/our-news\/math-and-arts-training-brings-26-vocational-teachers-in-yogyakarta-to-show-their-love-for-math\/","title":{"rendered":"Math and Arts Training Brings 26 Vocational Teachers in Yogyakarta to Show Their Love for Math"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yogyakarta, 27\u201429 May 2024 \u2013 SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM), supported by the Quality Assurance Development Centre for Vocational Education in Arts and Culture (BBPPMPV Seni dan Budaya), organised a three-day training program entitled &#8220;Math and Arts training.&#8221; This program is part of the &#8220;SMILE Campaign&#8221; initiated by SEAQiM in 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Sumardyono, the SEAQiM&#8217;s Director, stated, &#8220;The SMILE Campaign, which embodies the principles of Savvy, Maintain, Intimate, Love, and Engage, serves as a platform for individuals to rediscover the magic of mathematics in their daily lives. By integrating these elements, we aim to stimulate interest, reduce anxiety, and increase engagement in learning and applying mathematics in all aspects of life. We hope this program will have a significant positive impact, broadening understanding and improving mathematics skills for all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Twenty-six art teachers from vocational high schools (SMK) in Yogyakarta province participated in the training. Mathematics experts Dr Sumardyono and Miftahul Hidayah, alongside BBPPMPV representatives Mr Sigit Purnomo and Eni Setiani, facilitated the sessions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the opening ceremony, Mr. Hari Suryanto, the Head of General Affairs of the Professional Development Center for Educators of D.I. Yogyakarta province (BBGP-DIY), expressed his appreciation for SEAQiM&#8217;s initiative. He highlighted that the program&#8217;s inclusion of art teachers and mathematics teachers introduces a unique perspective on the intersection of art and mathematics. &#8220;On behalf of the head of BBGP-DIY, I wish to congratulate you on being selected as a participant in the Math and Arts training. Hopefully, you can enjoy the training and bring this knowledge to your students,&#8221; said Mr. Heri.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The four facilitators guided the participants through the theory and practice of integrating mathematics into art, helping them construct mathematical concepts through painting and other creative activities. This innovative approach fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of mathematics among teachers and students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The training concluded with positive feedback from the participants, who expressed enthusiasm for applying what they learned in their classrooms. SEAQiM hopes to continue such interdisciplinary initiatives to enrich the educational landscape further.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The successful collaboration between SEAQiM and BBPPMPV Seni dan Budaya in organising this training reflects a shared commitment to enhancing vocational education through innovative and engaging methods.
