Yogyakarta \u2013 Technology plays an important role in our lives today and most of us simply can not live without it. Technology helps us to simplify work and is a great tool to help us relax and have fun. Millenial students for example, use technology to do their homework, keep in touch with friends through social media, play games, and to explore the world wide web. In short, millenials are very familiar with technology. But how about millenials and school? Why not apply technology to teach math, since we all know that math is still a nightmare for most students.<\/span><\/p>\n This could pose a challange to math teachers implementing technology into the classroom.<\/span><\/p>\n As a centre that addressing issue in mathematics teacher quality, \u00a0SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) proudly conducts Course on Utilization and Development of IT Based Mathematics Learning Media for Senior High School Mathematics Teachers. This two weeks event has been started on March 30th, 2017 and participated by 30 participants from SEAMEO member countries.<\/span><\/p>\n The opening ceremony was attended by Dra. Ganung Anggraeni; a Deputy Director of Administration who is representing the Head of PPPPTK Matematika and Director of SEAQiM,\u00a0 Assoc. Prof. Allan White from University of Western Sydney, event committee, and SEAQiM\u2019s management team and staff. The event was officialy opened by Dra. Ganung Anggraeni, and in her speech, she emphasized how important technology is in this century.<\/span><\/p>\n The expected goals of the course are developing mathematics learning media by using computer application programs, utilizing computer software, and developing IT-based lesson plan. During the course, the participants are exposed with up-to-date skills and information on how to incorporate technology in their teaching method.<\/span><\/p>\n Geogebra, game for mathematics teaching, digital math environment, calculator as hand technology, and developing learning media are examples of some materials taught in the course. The material is prepared and taught by mathematic experts. Therefore, the centre has a high expectation for the participants in bringing joy to teaching mathematics to the millanials.<\/span><\/p>\n At the end, the Center would like to congratulate the 30 selected mathematics teachers who are lucky to attend the course and get the opportunity to improve their teaching skill.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Yogyakarta \u2013 Technology plays an important role in our lives today and most of us simply can not live without it.
