Yogyakarta \u2013 Playing games is a fun activity that is not only interest young people but adult as well. So, why not incorporate game in teaching math in school, sure it will be fun way to learn the subject. As a center which addresses challanges in teaching mathematics, SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) conducted a Workshop on Thunkable \u201cDeveloping an Interactive Game\u201d on 13 \u2013 15 March 2017.<\/p>\n
On this WebEx based workshop, participants; 68 teachers of all stages, had an opportunity to learn how to develop their own simple and interesting math game first hand from Mr. Amri Danades, SEAQiM\u2019s staff who specializes in ICT based learning media.<\/p>\n
Participants were very eager to learn the new application, Thunkable, which is a web-based application that was successfully developed from an App Inventor. With an easy-to-use interface, Thunkable enables them to create a fun learning media by just dragging and dropping visual object in the given place.<\/p>\n
In the three-day workshop, teachers were taught step by step on how to install supporting applications and plugin into their computer. Mr. Amri also gave a tutorial on how to make a simple mathematics game without any coding needed.<\/p>\n
By the end of the workshop, a final project was given. Teachers were very enthusiastic in accomplishing the final project as it can be used in their teaching activities in class.<\/p>\n
One of the participants of the workshop, Ms. Dewi Anggraeni said \u201cThunkable workshop is very fun and joyful, keep it up!\u201d.<\/p>\n
With this, there is hope that students will enjoy learning mathematics in a fun and joyful way. Teachers expect that this new learning media can boost students\u2019 motivation towards the subject.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
