{"id":6087,"date":"2023-10-30T15:28:08","date_gmt":"2023-10-30T08:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.qitepinmath.org\/en\/?p=6087"},"modified":"2025-10-09T14:23:37","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T07:23:37","slug":"seaqims-successful-completion-of-the-differentiated-instruction-course-in-mathematics-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.qitepinmath.org\/en\/our-news\/seaqims-successful-completion-of-the-differentiated-instruction-course-in-mathematics-education\/","title":{"rendered":"SEAQiM&#8217;s Successful Completion of the Differentiated Instruction Course in Mathematics Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; text-align: justify; margin: 0cm 0cm 8.0pt 0cm;\">From October 16th to October 27th, 2023, the SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) achieved a significant milestone by successfully wrapping up its latest regular course, &#8220;Differentiated Instruction in Mathematics Education for Junior High School Mathematics Teachers.&#8221; This course brought together 30 handpicked educators from SEAMEO Member Countries, fostering a collaborative environment for learning and innovation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; text-align: justify; margin: 0cm 0cm 8.0pt 0cm;\">The course featured a distinguished panel of experts, including Prof. Masami Isoda from Tsukuba University; Dr. Alongkot Maiduang from IPST Thailand; Dr. Ng Ee Kit Dawn from NIE Singapore; Dr. Peter Esperanza from the USA; Dr. Achmad Muhlis from ITB; Patricia Adam from Universitas Indonesia etc. These experts delved into a wide range of topics, including mathematical thinking, STEM for Math Learning, Differentiated Instruction concepts, the use of ICT in Differentiated Instruction, group work dynamics, and various enriching theories. They explored strategies to tailor instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of teachers. At its core, Differentiated Instruction is about recognizing that learners have varying abilities, interests, and learning profiles. It aims to provide a personalized and inclusive learning experience, ensuring every student can thrive. The experts discussed strategies for adapting teaching materials, content, and instructional methods to accommodate these differences, ultimately creating a more equitable and effective learning environment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; text-align: justify; margin: 0cm 0cm 8.0pt 0cm;\">This comprehensive approach to Differentiated Instruction encompassed the holistic education landscape, from mathematical thinking and STEM integration to the thoughtful use of technology and group dynamics. The course&#8217;s goal was to equip educators with the tools and insights they need to effectively implement Differentiated Instruction in their classrooms, fostering a more inclusive and engaging educational experience for all students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; text-align: justify; margin: 0cm 0cm 8.0pt 0cm;\">Participants could put their newfound knowledge into action as a unique and practical component of this virtual course. They were allowed to apply their teaching theories to students in four schools virtually. These schools were drawn from the pool of participating teachers. They included SMP Negeri 1 Nunukan, SMP Kalam Kudus Pematang Siantar, SMP BSS, Brawijaya Smart School, and SMP Negeri 3 Satu Atap Borobudur.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; text-align: justify; margin: 0cm 0cm 8.0pt 0cm;\">One of the course participants, Mr. Jonas V. Cuevas, a Teacher III at Llamera National High School in CARAGA, expressed his gratitude for the invaluable insights and knowledge gained during the course. He highlighted how the system had significantly enriched his teaching practices and educational approaches.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; text-align: justify; margin: 0cm 0cm 8.0pt 0cm;\">The involvement of these experts not only elevated the learning experience but also advanced SEAQiM&#8217;s vision to be a centre of professional leadership in mathematics education.
