The Explanation of Map Projections Based on Mathematical Concepts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Author :<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Tevan Adi Satria (YSKI Christian Middle School Semarang)<\/p>\n<p>Current world maps, particularly those using the Mercator projection, distort the sizes of countries near the poles, making them appear larger than they actually are, while equatorial areas remain accurate. This issue stems from the Mercator projection&#8217;s tendency to magnify higher latitudes at the expense of tropical regions. The distortion arises from trying to fit the spherical Earth onto a cylindrical plane.
