Many teachers can use those two questions to check for comprehension of their students, which benefits the teacher rather than the students. The teacher asks those two for clarification before moving on to the next subject. Students will clearly answer yes for the first and no for the second, and the teacher will be able to get forward with the lesson. In reality, students are unsure about what they have comprehended. Some students may respond by quoting the desired teacher’s response in order to avoid having to answer another question from the teacher. In addition, yes/no questions do not encourage them to use higher-order thinking skills.

[232

Desmos Polygraph: Teaching Students Questioning to Develop Conceptual Understanding - SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics

<meta name="description" content="In teaching and learning activities, questions like "Does everybody understand it?" and "Is there any question?" are often asked.
