Financial literacy is one of the requirements to be a functional and literate 21st century citizen, and one of the domains of Programme for International Students Assessment (PISA). Project based learning about daily budgeting can be an option to incorporate financial literacy to mathematics teaching and learning.<\/p>\n

How much is a pack of rice? If there are two toilet paper brands with different prices and discounts, which brand will you buy? How much and how long do you need to save some money to buy the thing you want? When I asked these questions to a 14 years old teenager, he shook his head and replied that he did not know and his parents will buy what he wants. I believe this happens to many teenagers nowadays. They know little about the cost of living and savings.<\/p>\n
