The SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM), as one of the SEAMEO Centres in Indonesia, has successfully conducted the International Symposium on Mathematics Education and Innovation (ISMEI), bearing the theme: reimaging numeracy in math education. This biennial event answered the needs of the current condition of the mathematics teachers&#8217; lack of knowledge in numeracy, leading to various misconceptions and misinformation. This activity is a space for disseminating works and exchanging ideas about innovations in mathematics education for teachers, education staff, policymakers, and related stakeholders.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"IN\" style=\"color: #0e101a;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;\"><strong><span lang=\"IN\" style=\"color: #0e101a; font-weight: normal;\">The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (MoECRT), SEAMEO Secretariat Bangkok and Balai Besar Guru Penggerak Provinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta supported this two-day event. In the opening ceremony, the Director of SEAQiM, Dr Sumardyono, expressed his abundant thanks to all invited speakers in the plenary and keynote session. They are Dr Kamaleswaran Jayarajah from the SEAMEO Secretariat and Dr Meliyanti from the Directorate of Primary Education (MoECRT). Then the invited keynote speakers from various countries, such as Dave tout from the Australian Council for Education Research (ACER), Dr Dicky Susanto from Calvin Institute of Technology, Prof Kees Hoogland from the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, The Netherlands, Prof Trena L Wilkerson from National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and Prof Alison Clark Wilson from the University College London.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"IN\" style=\"color: #0e101a;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;\"><strong><span lang=\"IN\" style=\"color: #0e101a; font-weight: normal;\">In the keynote sessions, every session was chaired by a notable moderator from Indonesia, such as Dr Farida Nurhasanah from SEAQiM, Dr Ariyadi Wijaya from Yogyakarta State University (UNY), Mrs Nur Fitriana from Balai Besar Guru Penggerak Provinsi DIY, and Mr Wakhid Fitri Albar, from Semarang State University (UNNES), Indonesia. During the keynote, there was a lively discussion between participants and speakers. After the keynote session, the participants were allowed to choose to attend the parallel workshop session; around 47 paper presenters had a chance to present their papers in this Symposium.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"IN\" style=\"color: #0e101a;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;\"><strong><span lang=\"IN\" style=\"color: #0e101a; font-weight: normal;\">Meanwhile, on the second day of the Symposium, there were five parallel sessions workshops which allowed the participants to learn more about specific topic numeracy and its challenging yet fun activity in the classroom. The facilitators in the workshop sessions are Dr Kristof Fenyversi from the Jyvascyla University of Finland, Dr rer nat Adi Nur Cahyono from UNNES, Indonesia, Mr Wiworo from Balai Besar Guru Penggerak Provinsi DIY, Bungkus Dias from SEAQiM and Kelsey Zhang from Vex Robotic.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"IN\" style=\"color: #0e101a;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;\"><strong><span lang=\"IN\" style=\"color: #0e101a; font-weight: normal;\">&#8220;I am so happy I could present on-site rather than join online. I could feel the vibes of the international event and meeting with math experts from SEAQiM, the moderator, and the paper presenters in the parallel sessions.
