The Southeast Asian Mathematics Education Journal (SEAMEJ) is supported by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (QITEP) in Mathematics situated in Yogyakarta Indonesia, better known as SEAQiM. Launched on July 13, 2009, there are now three SEAMEO QITEPs in Indonesia. One centre is in Mathematics (Yogyakarta), the other two centres are in Science (Bandung) and Language (Jakarta).<\/p>\n
SEAMEJ is an academic journal devoted to publishing a variety of research studies and theoretical papers in the field of mathematics education. This Journal seeks to stimulate discussion at all levels of the mathematics education community. SEAMEJ aims to publish an edition twice a year, in June and December.<\/p>\n
The papers offered in this edition present an Indonesian perspective with academic papers that were subjected to our External Advisory Panel review process arising from the 5th<\/sup> International Symposium on Mathematics Education and Innovation (ISMEI 2018) held from 13th<\/sup> to 14th<\/sup> November 2018. ISMEI is SEAQiM\u2019s biennial event which aims to foster the exchange of innovative ideas and strategies for mathematics teaching and learning in modern classrooms. This two-day symposium addressed issues related to STEM education and practices; ICT for mathematics teaching and learning; innovation in mathematics teaching and learning; and blended learning. The theme of the symposium was \u201cPreparing Future Generations through Transdisciplinary Learning\u201d.<\/p>\n As it was a symposium that attracted a large number of teachers these papers are mostly written with a pedagogical disposition and uses a small case study approach. The titles are: Enhancing Indonesian Students\u2019 Self-confidence through the Integration of Problembased Learning (PBL) and Technology; Exploring Mathematical Critical Thinking Skills of Yogyakarta Junior Secondary School Students; How Indonesian Students Use the Polya\u2019s General Problem Solving Steps; Indonesian Continuing Professional Development Implementation: Knowledge Development Aspect of Yogyakarta Senior Secondary School Mathematics Teachers; The Implementation of TPACK (Technology, Pedagogy, and Content Knowledge) Framework on Indonesian Online Mathematics Teachers Training; and Students\u2019 Errors and Misconceptions about Operations of Fractions in an Indonesian Primary School<\/em>.<\/p>\n This edition also presents an Australian perspective on Innovative Learning in the Age of Industry Revolution 4.0<\/em> and an Australian Mathematics Literacy Perspectives: Assessment<\/em>.<\/p>\n Since our first journal was distributed in 2011 we have continued to refine our processes although we have yet to reach perfection. We always welcome feedbacks and suggestions for improvement, but most of all, we welcome paper contributions.<\/p>\n This Journal seeks articles highlighting empirical as well as theoretical research studies, particularly those that have a perspective wider than local or national interests. All contributions to SEAMEJ will be peer reviewed and we are indebted to those on the External Advisory Panel for their support.<\/p>\n Dr. Wahyudi and Assoc.
