The activity was supported by SEAQiM in collaboration with the Centre for Development and Empowerment of Mathematics Teachers and Education Personnel (CDEMTEP) on Tuesday, 21 May 2019 at Kampung Joho, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The project is funded by the Australian Government through the Alumni Grant Scheme and administrated by Australia Awards in Indonesia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: 115%; text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2342 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.qitepinmath.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/shibori1-300x188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qitepinmath.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/shibori1-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.qitepinmath.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/shibori1.jpg 413w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: center; line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Calibri Light',sans-serif;\">The process of coloring the fabrics<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify; line-height: 115%;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: 'Calibri Light',sans-serif;\">Shibori <\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: 'Calibri Light',sans-serif;\">is one of Japanese manual resist dyeing techniques which produces patterns on fabric. In Javanese, it is called \u201c<em>jumputan<\/em>\u201d. To optimize the learning process of making the <em>Shibori<\/em>, SEAQiM invited Ms. Bernadetta Pudyas, practitioner and entrepreneur in Diaz Rajut Shibori &amp; Ecoprint Collection, to facilitate the participants. She introduced the participants to many kinds of techniques from binding, stitching, folding, and twisting until compressing for <em>Shibori<\/em>. Interestingly, each technique results in very different patterns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: 115%;\">\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2343 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.qitepinmath.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/shibori2-300x188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qitepinmath.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/shibori2-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.qitepinmath.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/shibori2.jpg 413w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: center; line-height: 115%;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: 'Calibri Light',sans-serif;\">The participants and their products<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify; line-height: 115%;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: 'Calibri Light',sans-serif;\">After completing the workshop, the women community of Kampung STEM Joho is expected to have self-development skills in creating <em>Shibori<\/em> while implementing STEM knowledge in their daily activities.
