Visiting SEAQiM, Universitas Muria Kudus Seek Cooperation and Benchmark the Using of ICT to Support Mathematics Teaching and Learning

In a ground-breaking development that promises to transform education, the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into mathematics teaching and learning methodologies is indispensable. Worldwide educational institutions are embracing ICT as a powerful tool to engage students, improve collaboration, and facilitate personalized learning experiences. To assess and enhance the effectiveness of ICT tools and strategies in educational settings, Universitas Muria Kudus (UMK) set a benchmarking trip to SEAQiM, especially for the best practice and tips in using media to support mathematics teaching and learning. The benchmarking is packaged under the title “Study Banding dan Focus Group Discussion Universitas Muria Kudus”, on Wednesday, 5 July 2023. The event took a venue at Conference Room SEAQiM, attended by the Board of Directors of SEAQiM and management, also four (4) personnel from UMK.

The event involves a short-comprehensive comparison and evaluation of various interactive platforms/media and simulations commonly used and suggested by SEAQiM to equip the specialists in presenting the workshop and course materials. The session was facilitated by Mr Bungkus Dias Prasetyo, SEAQiM’s specialist. The participants are invited to explore GeoGebra and Desmos, the online-free application, resulting in a deeper understanding of using virtual media to support mathematics teaching and learning. Introduction to 4D Frame, Aztec Robotic, and Snap Cube as physical media also supplement the technology integration in mathematics education.

The agenda continued with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to address and seek future cooperation between UMK and SEAQiM. Dr Sumaji, the Head of the Mathematics Study Program of UMK, expressed their willingness to collaborate related to the support of the Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. “We are asking for directions on possible collaborations that we can mutually agree to support the MBKM program, which aims to encourage students to master various skills to prepare them to enter the work industries”, said Dr Sumaji. SEAQiM, through the Director, welcomes the requests for referrals from UMK, in line with SEAQiM’s commitment to creating digitally literate learners equipped with essential skills for the 21st Century. Additionally, this benchmarking and FGD facilitates knowledge sharing and fosters collaboration between two institutions.
