Benchmarking Visit by SEAMES

Yogyakarta – 15 August 2022, wrapped into the SEAMEO Benchmarking Programme 2022, SEAMEO Secretariat, Thailand finally come to SEAQiM, Yogyakarta. The SEAMEO Benchmarking Programme (SBP) is an opportunity for SEAMES’ staff to internalize best practices and to develop an enhanced understanding of the culture and operation of SEAMEO Member Countries and SEAMEO Regional Centres during their actual stay in another country. The said programme contains a back-to-back benchmarking visit to SEAQiM, continued with Financial Operation Manual (FOM) training at SEAMEO SEAMOLEC, and benchmarking visit to SEAMEO QITEP in Language. The main purpose of the activity is to strengthen educational, cultural, and social bonds between the SEAMEO Secretariat (SEAMES) and SEAMEO Regional Centres, and to provide comprehensive training on the SEAMEO Financial Operation Manual (FOM) to the staff of SEAMEO Regional Centres.

During their visit, Dr. Kritsachai Somsaman, the Deputy Director for Administration and Communication of SEAMES, with the four financial department personnel from SEAMES, express thanks for the heartwarming welcome from SEAQiM. Also, discuss for any collaborations related to STEM Education. “It would be beneficial if we could also discuss activities we might be able to do together in the near future as a regional programme”, Dr. Mon said, in his speech. On the occasion, Ms. Kornkanok Chareonwuthilarp, with the three financial officers, provide explanations and directions regarding FOM reporting for each center under the SEAMEO.  Also sharing experience and knowledge on finance and administration. The activity continued with FOM training at SEAMEO SEAMOLEC for the next day.

At the end of the benchmarking visit, Dr. Sumardyono, the Director of SEAQiM honored to thank you for the SEAMES teams, and also welcoming the collaboration between SEAMES and SEAQiM in the nearest future. Hopefully, from this activity, both institutions are expected to support and to contribute the education transformation in Southeast Asia.
