The 2nd GBM of QITEP in Mathematics: 3rd day
The agenda of the 3rd day of QITEP in Mathematics Governing Board Meeting (GBM) was excursion for the GB Members to Bukittinggi, started from 07.00 am until 03.00 pm. The GB members visited many interesting places in Bukittinggi. The first place to visit was Pusat Dokumentasi dan Informasi Kebudayaan Minangkabau (Center for Documentation and Information of Minangkabau Culture). Next, they visited Pandai Sikek, a well-known village for tradisional embroidery namely Songket. They also visited Ngarai Sianok and Jam Gadang to explore the beauty of West Sumatera Province. read more

2nd Governing Board Meeting : 2nd day
On the second day, 21 September 2011, the meeting was held in the same room, in Lidya Room, Basko Hotel Padang. The GB Members discussed 5 Working Papers (WP), that are WP 5, WP 7, WP 8, WP 9, and WP 10.
WP 5 is about Annual Report on the Accomplishments of SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics' Programmes of Financial Year (FY) 2010/2011 presented by Dr. Ida Karnasih. GB Members gave some suggestions for this WP. One of them was about the using word 'to be' on the Centre's vision. Mr. Noorhaizamdin Abdullah suggested that Centre should replace 'to be' with 'being'. During the discussion, GB Members from Lao PDR expressed another issue about language barriers faced by the participant especially from Lao PDR. Some of GB Members sharing each others to give their experiences to resolve that problem. read more

The 2nd Governing Board Meeting of QITEP in Mathematics was oficially opened by the Governor of West Sumatera, represented by Head of Education and Sport Office of Padang, Mr. Syamsulrizal in Basko Hotel Padang on 20 September 2011. Welcome Dinner for Delegates of 2nd GBM SEAMEO QITEP in Math

SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics holds 2nd Governing Board Meeting 2011 at Basko Hotel in Padang on 19 to 23 September 2011. Welcome dinner for the Delegates was held on 19 September 2011 on 19.00 p.m. at Nantungga Ballroom to initiate the meeting. Governing Board Member, SEAMEO Secretariat, PPPPTK Matematika, LPMP West Sumatera Province, and committes attended the dinner.
On that occasion, the Director of QITEP in Mathematics, Prof. Subanar, Ph.D., delivered a speech to welcome GB Member. The professor hoped the meeting will tighten the relationship among SEAMEO member countries. During the Welcome Dinner, Parotoan Entertaintment performed interesting traditional dances. The dances namely Tari Persembahan, Tari Payung, and Tari Piring. Traditional dance performance is a way to introduce Indonesian culture specifically West Sumatera. read more |

Testimonials of Course on Joyful Learning in Mathematics For Primary School mathematics Teacher - SEAMEO Qitep in Math
Joyful Learning offered many alternatives in mathematics learning. JL integrated some subjects and activities with mathematics itself. We can combine mathematics with arts, mathematics and song, mathematics and ICT, mathematics and games, mathematics and poem, mathematics and outdoor activity, etc. We can choose one of the combinations for some topics to use it in our classroom. It is reasonable, especially for primary school mathematics teacher, because most of primary school students like fun activities such as singing, games, coloring, outdoor activities, etc. Integrating fun activities with mathematics by JL can make joyful and meaningful learning for students. Furthermore, teachers can develop their learning approach adjusted by classroom and students needs. read more
