Sydney – Mr. Wahid Yunianto, one of Mathematics Specialists from SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) went to the 3rd GAKUHAN Skill Up Seminar. He was invited by Noboru Hoshi, the GAKUHAN Planning Manager CASIO Computer CO., LTD. GAKUHAN is special a program by CASIO which aims to actively support teachers and students to achieve better mathematical education using scientific calculator.
In this precious occasion, Mr. Wahid Yunianto was one of the key master trainer from CASIO leading countries. In this seminar he had the opportunity to share his experiences in front of other participants. He shared his project on improving the quality of mathematics teachers in Indonesia by integrating CASIO calculator. Furthermore, he explained the design of CASIO for education program in Indonesia in 2018. “This event is very interesting because I can share my experience to CASIO training in Indonesia. Furthermore, I also learned new things from other countries’ experiences such as Australia.” said Mr. Wahid.
The 3rd GAKUHAN Skill Up Seminar was held on January 19 – 21, 2018 in Sydney. In this event master trainers gathered to share their progress on developing GAKUHAN and to improve their skills and knowledge. The seminars also discussed about the next GAKUHAN training programs and other strategies. Participants of this seminar were from Malaysia, Bangladesh, Kenya, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and Philippines, while the speakers were from Singapore, Malaysia and Australia.
Further impact of GAKUHAN is that CASIO will collaborate and work together with other related institutions including SEAQiM to improve the quality of math teachers. The ultimate goal is to help CASIO master trainers to reach the highest stage of achievement in mathematics learning. Another following up action planned by CASIO is to collaborate with SEAQiM in providing a learning video on how to teach mathematics with calculator well.
