TECHNOLOGY, NEW INSIGHT IN TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS OF MATHEMATICS
SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics together with PPPPTK held a General Lecture on “The Role of Technology on Mathematics Teaching and Learning for the 21st Century” on 4 April 2014 in line with the Asian Technology Conference (ATCM) this November.
Prof. Wei Chi Yang from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Radford University, USA gave a general lecture on how technology plays a role in mathematics teaching and learning to 32 instructors (Widyaiswara) and staff of SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics. The lecture was held as a pre-introduction and confirmation on the ATCM for this November. Prof Wei Chi Yang also encouraged collaboration of ATCM in mathematics education among researchers and decision makers from Indonesia.
Through this lecture, he presented the implementation of mathematical concepts, such as calculus and algebra, in making an animated fish; in line with his remark on how technology becomes a bridge to make us rethink making mathematics as an interesting and a cross disciplinary subject.
